Which Mexican destinations are covered?
Primary coverage: Tulum, Akumal, Soliman Bay, Tankah Bay, Sian Ka'an, and the broader Riviera Maya. Secondary coverage: Los Cabos, Punta Mita, Sayulita, Careyes, and Mexico City when we have something specific to say.
When is the best time to visit Mexico?
It depends on the coast. Riviera Maya peaks December through March. Pacific (Cabo, Punta Mita) is stellar November through June, hotter in July and August. Mexico City is pleasant year-round with a clear dry season October through May.
Is Tulum worth visiting now?
Yes, with intention. Tulum has changed — busier, more commercial, more developed — but the stretches of coast outside the main hotel zone remain quietly extraordinary. Soliman Bay, Tankah, and Akumal give you the Tulum people talk about. The main beach road, less so.
How many days do I need?
Minimum four nights to let the pace settle. Seven nights is the sweet spot — enough for downtime, a boat day, a cenote morning, and at least one dinner out. Ten nights or more is when a place stops feeling like a trip and starts feeling like a rhythm.
Any destinations off the beaten path you recommend?
Holbox for beach days without a beach club in sight. Bacalar for the lagoon. Valladolid for colonial architecture and proper mole. All are within half a day of a Tulum villa and make excellent day trips or short detours.
