Frequently asked questions about Punta Mita & Pacific (TST)

Where exactly is Punta Mita? (TST)

On the Riviera Nayarit, about 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. A peninsula jutting into the Pacific, lined with beach clubs, luxury resorts, and private villa enclaves. Surrounded by Sayulita to the north (surf town, bohemian) and Puerto Vallarta to the south (urban, established). (TST)

How does Punta Mita compare to Tulum? (TST)

Punta Mita is quieter, more established, and more family-oriented. Architecture is restrained, beaches are clean, and the food scene is quietly excellent without advertising itself. Less scene than Tulum. More rhythm. Better for travelers who don't need the destination to prove something. (TST)

Is there surf? (TST)

Yes, especially at La Lancha and Sayulita — both within reach of a Punta Mita villa. La Lancha is beginner-friendly most of the year; Sayulita has more variety. Instructors, board rentals, and private surf days all arranged through the concierge. (TST)

What about Sayulita and San Pancho? (TST)

Sayulita is a 30-minute drive north — smaller, bohemian, good for surf and a different dining scene. San Pancho is 10 minutes further, quieter still, with some of the region's best small restaurants. Both make excellent day trips or short detours. (TST)

Are there good excursions from Punta Mita? (TST)

Yes. Boat day to the Marietas Islands (protected marine reserve, Hidden Beach when accessible). Whale watching December through March. Mountain biking in the Sierra Madre. Day trip to tequila country around Guadalajara. Most guests do one boat day and one land-based excursion per week. (TST)
